Medals to the Serbian Armed Forces peacekeepers in UNIFIL

In the "Miguel Cervantes" base, in which the Sector East headquarters of the UN multinational operation in Lebanon is situated, today, a ceremony in which members of the Spanish and Serbian contingent were awarded medals for their contribution to the UNIFIL mission was held.

Executing complex and responsible tasks in the international environment, our peacekeepers presented the Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia in the best possible manner and proved to be a reliable partner to their Spanish colleagues.
On behalf of the United Nations Secretary-General, our soldiers were presented the medals by Major General Paolo Serra, UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of UNIFIL Command and Sector East headquarters, diplomatic representatives, delegation of the armed forces of Lebanon, presidents of municipalities and local communities, religious leaders and many guests. .
The members of our contingent will continue with execution of their regular operational tasks until the end of the next month, when they are expected to return to Serbia.
