Visit by Russian Western Military District Commander

The Commander of the Western Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Alexander Alexandrovich Zhuravlyov met yesterday in Niš with the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, within his visit to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

Generals Simović and Zhuravlyov discussed further development of cooperation between our Army and the Western Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, primarily in the field of training. They also talked about the participation of the members of the Army in a tactical exercise of the Western Military District units planned for the second half of this year.

Delegation of the Western Military District visited the “Mija Stanimirović” barracks in Niš, where it attended a display of the training of the units of the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade, and the Base “South”, where members of the Multinational Operations Training Centre presented capacities of the centre to the guests from Russia.

During his stay in Serbia, General Zhuravlyov had separate meetings with the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović during which they confirmed commitment to enhancing the cooperation of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
