The Holy Cross in the Hands of Members of the Serbian Armed Forces

At four locations—in Stari Banovci, Svrljig, Kuršumlija and on the Vlasina Lake, members of the Serbian Armed Forces today came first to the Holy Cross.

On the occasion of Christian holiday Theophany, more than 300 members of the Serbian Armed Forces participated in the swimming for the Holy Cross which took place on 29 rivers and lakes across Serbia.

Major Milan Žunić of the 204th Air Force Brigade was the fastest in the Theophany swimming held in Stari Banovci, while Lieutenant Aleksandar Stanković od the 63rd Paratrooper Brigade, Special Brigade, came first to the Holy Cross in Svrljig.

Professional soldier Srđan Ranđelović of the 37th Mechanized Battalion, 3rd Army Brigade, was the most successful in the swimming in Kuršumlija, while professional soldier Nikola Nedeljković of the 40th HQ Battalion, 4th Army Brigade came first on the Vlasina Lake.

Across Serbia, Theophany was celebrated today through liturgies in orthodox churches and swimming for the Holy Cross on lakes and rivers. The bravest ones raced to the Holy Cross over 33 meters long distance that represents Christ's years. More than 300 members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces participated in the swimming for the Holy Cross, now a traditional ceremony, which took place at 29 locations across Serbia.
