Farewell to Contingent of Serbian Armed Forces to Deploy to UN Mission in Lebanon

A total of a hundred and thirty members of the Infantry Company of the Second Battalion of the Land Forces, 33 persons from the Platoon for the Protection of Forces from the Training Command Units and 12 Staff Officers and members of the National Support Element will be engaged in the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon for the next six months.

Addressing all the present at the official ceremony at the Serbian Military Club in Kraljevo, General Mojsilović emphasized he is convinced that the members of this contingent will successfully accomplish all the tasks in the zone of operations and represent the Republic of Serbia and its Armed Forces in a worthy manner, bearing in mind the results they have achieved at the training and during the preparation for the mission.

The Chief of the General Staff presented the state flags to the Commander of the Infantry Company, Major Igor Kočović and the Commander of the Platoon for the Protection of Forces, Captain Tihomir Lužanin. Giving thanks for the honor awarded on behalf of the contingent members, Major Kočović and Captain Lužanin stressed that they will carry the flags with honor, proud to be representing the Serbian Armed Forces.

The Commander of the Land Forces, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command, Major General Ilija Todorov, Deputy Commander of the Training Command, Brigadier General Jelesija Radivojević, Commander of the Second Brigade of the Land Forces, Brigadier General Željko Kuzmanović, representatives of the MUP (Ministry of Interior), local self-governments and religious communities, members of the families of the Infantry troops and Platoon for the Protection of Forces and numerous guests were present today.

282 members of the Serbian Armed Forces are currently engaged in nine peacekeeping operations around the world.
