Regional PELT Center opens in Novi Sad

As part of PELT program in educating and testing the members of SAF in English according to STANAG 6001 standard, which is a partner project between the Serbian Mod and the donor countries: the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and UK, the first regional Self Access English Learning Center was opened yesterday in Army 1st Brigade.

By a ceremonious cutting of the ribbon, Brigadier general Djokica Petrovic and the First Secretary of Danish Embassy in Belgrade Peter Lasen opened the center.
Besides the Chief of the Department of Training and Doctrine, SAF GS, the ceremony was attended by the representatives of SAF Army Command and military and diplomatic representatives of donor countries as well as the representatives of Novi Sad City Council.
The center in Novi Sad is the sixth center opened after Nis, Vranje, Kraljevo, POzarevac and Pancevo. A similar self-learning English center is expected to be opened soon in SAF GS, while in the words of General Cornakov our intention is for such learning centers to be opened in Batajknica air base and the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade as well.
-This modern self-learning center will enable the members of the First Brigade to learn English or to improve their existing knowledge of the English language, which would also advance their military career”, said Brigadier General Petrovic. On behalf of donor countries, Peter Lasen addressed to the guests stressing the importance of PELT program for SAF members.
The center is located in the Novi Sad army club and is equipped with computes and state-of-the-art learning software, a permanent Internet connection with the possibility of contacting their teachers via Internet, and a library stacked with Oxford, Longman, McMillan textbooks.
