Chief of the General Staff With a Delegation of the Air Force and Air Defence

The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović hosted a delegation of the Air Force and Air Defence today on the occasion of December 24 – the Day of that service of the Serbian Armed Forces.

On the occasion of December 24 – the Air Force and Air Defence Day, the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović today hosted a delegation of that service of the Serbian Armed Forces, led by the Commander of the AF and AD, Major General Duško Žarković.

With congratulations on the holiday to the members of the Air Force and Air Defence, General Mojsilović emphasized the results achieved in equipping and modernizing this service of the Serbian Armed Forces and the successful accomplishment of all assigned tasks.

The Air Force and Air Defence Day is celebrated on December 24 in memory of the day when Field Marshal Radomir Putnik issued the Decision on Establishment of the Air Force Command based in Niš in 1912. The Command consisted of the Aeroplane and Balloon departments, Hydrogen Station and Pigeons Mail. At the time, Serbia was one of the 15 countries in the world that had air force and one among the first five countries to deploy aircraft in combat operations, during the siege of Shkodra in 1913.
