Meeting between Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces and Deputy Chief of Defence of the Bulgarian Army

Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković, met today with Deputy Chief of Defence of the Bulgarian Army, Lieutenant General Dimitar Iliev, in Dimitrovgrad. 

During the meeting, experiences related to migrant crisis were exchanged and opportunities for enhancing bilateral military cooperation in the forthcoming period were examined. It was concluded that the exchange of information, significant for preventive action and protection of citizens, peace and stability of our countries and regions should be continued.

Regarding the bilateral military cooperation, it was noted that the Serbian Armed Forces and the Bulgarian Army have the most advanced cooperation in the field of training, which is confirmed by the large number of international exercises where they participate together, and this very year, the members of the two armed forces participated in five international military exercises. In order to check units’ capabilities, it is of great importance to jointly fire the airspace targets, which AD rocket units carry out at the Shabla firing range in Bulgaria.

It was agreed to continue with improving military-to-military cooperation through activities of mutual interest in the upcoming period.
