Minister Vulin: 2019 - the Year of Further Strengthening of the Serbian Armed Forces

The envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović hosted tonight at the Guard House reception on the occasion of New Year and Christmas holidays.

Minister Vulin congratulated the audience on behalf of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić on New Year and Christmas holidays and pointed out that the year ahead of us is the year in which we will continue what was started back in 2012, a process of strengthening and renewal of the Serbian Armed Forces, while many things we will successfully bring to an end.

– In 2019 this country will be stronger by new combat and non-combat helicopters, new tanks and new BRDMs. We expect to strike a deal to buy unmanned aircraft systems, to continue developing and equipping ourselves under 1500 Project, that each soldier will be equipped with better and newer arms and new uniforms, Minister Vulin said. He added that in 2019 the Serbian Armed Forces will continue to strengthen and develop.

According to him, the Serbian Armed Forces will be the backbone of its state, country and people in the new year, just as it was in the previous years, but also in the years to come.

The Serbian Armed Forces, strong, safe and content, are the Armed Forces capable of preserving peace. Only if you have powerful, organized armed forces, you can be sure that only a few or no one will even think to act or speak using the language of power. The powerful Serbian Armed Forces can guarantee peace and stability and security, everything that Serbia is, Minister of Defence pointed out. He added that every single member of the Serbian Armed Forces is the most important and most valuable asset of the Armed Forces.

Although we are happy about the new helicopters, MiGs, tanks, BRDMs, rifles and uniforms, what makes us the happiest is when a member of the Serbian Armed Forces is safe and content.

– The greatest strength of the Serbian Armed Forces through history was that you could never say with certainty where the distinguishing line between the military and the people. The military and the people have always been as a one and as such they are safe and invincible. That’s how it is going to be in the year ahead of us, said Minister Vulin. He added that ahead of us is a difficult year full of challenges, a year in which paramilitary forces are being established and the creation of a greater Albania being discussed.

He reminded that there are many of those who would like to see Serbia as small, humiliated and defeated and that year 2019 is the year in which we will strengthen, preserve peace, and protect Serbs no matter where they live.

– The Serbian national issue has not been resolved, and in 2019, just as in every year before and every year after, we will do our best to have the Serbian national issue solved in peace, as it should be and a great and brave nation deserves, the nation that gave enough heads in the endless and innumerable wars started and asked for by others, and it participated in them because it lived on this piece of land, Minister Vulin said.

He stressed that the year 2019 will be the year of unity and coherence among all the Serbs, as well as comprehension and understanding that the Serbian national issue will be completed and resolved only if we were united, coherent, not ashamed of our Belgrade and not ashamed of the fact that no one can love, protect and respect Serbs as their Belgrade can and as their Serbia can.

– I wish all members of the Serbian Armed Forces, all citizens of Serbia, a successful and above all peaceful year, the year in which we will work, the year in which we will create, the year in which we will win! Long live the Serbian Armed Forces, long live Serbia! – Minister Vulin said.

The ceremony at the Guard House was attended by ministers in the Government, senior state officials, representatives of religious communities, members of the military-diplomatic corps, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and numerous figures from public life.
