Visit by Vice Chief of the Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces

At the invitation of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković, Vice Chief of Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Timothy Fraser, has paid a two-day visit to the Republic of Serbia.

During the meeting between General Cvetković and Admiral Fraser, the current security situation in the region and worldwide was discussed and the views on the migration crisis and bilateral cooperation between Serbia and the United Kingdom in the coming period were exchanged.

It was concluded that defence cooperation between the two countries had been developed in different areas of military relations, and that joint training and exercises were the best way to test the achieved capabilities and interoperability. This year, the British Armed Forces will participate in Platinum Wolf 20 Exercise, with a significantly larger number of its members, where, in addition to the Serbian Armed Forces, the participation of soldiers and officers from 13 partner countries is planned, as well.

During his visit to Serbia, Admiral Fraser was received by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Aleksandar Vučić, and Minister of Defence, Mr Aleksandar Vulin. Besides, Admiral Fraser delivered a lecture to the students of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies and the National Defence School General Staff Course attendees, on the topic "Physiognomy of future military conflicts and the development of the necessary capabilities to respond to new military and non-military threats".
