As of today, mixed military-civilian airport “Morava” in Lađevci near Kraljevo is open for international civilian air traffic.

The President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces spoke at the opening ceremony, and the event was attended by presidents of national assemblies of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, presidents of the governments of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik, ministers of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, military leadership and numerous guests from the countries of the region.

The beginning of the celebration was announced by the flypasts of military planes J-22 Eagle and MiG-29 and the anthem “Bože Pravde” performed by the Mixed Choir of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.

Addressing the present, President Vučić reminded that it was the day of Vidovdan, great and holy day for all the Serbs wherever they lived and stated that by marking that holiday by opening the “Morava” airport it could be said that it was a new place, one of many from which Serbia literally “can take to the sky, over the sky, and reach new destinations, new goals and new results”.

– Today, what you see is the economic progress of Serbia, economic growth and the progress of our armed forces and greater strength of our armed forces and it seems to me that this speaks more than any word, more than beating one’s breast, heroic drumming that we are ready to protect, preserve our country, unlike it was in the past. No one will tear Serbia into pieces, or attack it, nor will the Serbs be killed and haunted, like they used to do in the previous decades. Today, Serbia is a train that wishes and wants to go into the future and we know that this road is long, with kilometres of paths, railroads, investments, work places which have to be shared by all of us – President Vučić emphasised.

As he says “Morava” airport is the first civilian airport opened after 1986, when it was opened in Niš. President Vučić sends the message that it will not be the end and that the way will be found for similar enterprises in Ponikve and Bor.

– Today, this airport translates a myth into modern reality which is built by each kilometre of roads and railroads, each new plant, school and hospital, and as soon as tomorrow, all that is going to be the common good of all people in the Balkans, as much as it will be of our Serbia. Most importantly, no one has to die for what we are doing. Quite contrary, we are doing all of that so that the people could live, so that the children are born and so that the reality stops being a punishment. It is only such, modern, strong and thriving Serbia that has to be good for all other in the region – President Vučić stated.

– We will invest in our strength, we will strengthen all our capacities, we will be multiply stronger that we used to be five, 15, 20, 30 years and by investing money in our strength and our armed forces, our police, we are investing in peace and investing in stability, because only strong Serbia can be a guarantor of preservation of peace, and it is only Serbia that cannot be touched and which is not considered as easy to destroy that can guarantee the security to our children – the President of Serbia underscored.

As he says “I am proud with the fact that the representatives of Serbian people from Montenegro, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia and all the countries of the region attended the opening and I am pleased with the opportunity to talk with them today about what could be done for the preservation of Serbian name and last name and for the Serbs to remain at their hearths.

– The future of Serbia is in airports, roads, railroads, factories. Together, we will succeed in winning and try to enable that as much of the Serbs as possible who left our country, to return to their hearths, to have their future here, to have more children and have better standard of living. I wish you merry Vidovdan, the great, holy, Serbian holiday, and may we learn once and for all to learn lessons from our defeats and how to achieve only victories in our future – President Vučić stressed who met the representatives of the Serbs from the region after the celebration.

The official opening ceremony of the airport was preceded by flight programme of the sports aviation planes and landing of the first commercial airplane Air Serbia ATR 72 on the airport runway.

Apart from the Mixed Choir of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces and Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički” the cultural and artistic part of the programme included the performance of dance ensemble “Karanovac”.

Airport “Morava” is the third international airport in our country, and it is geographically located in the heart of Serbia, 15km away from Kraljevo, 16km from Čačak, 32km from Gornji Milanovac and 39km from Kragujevac.
