Visit of Chief of General Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces

Chief of General Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces, General Robert Brieger, is visiting Serbia, at the invitation of Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.

General Brieger visited the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff today, where he discussed with General Mojsilović the current political and security situation in the region and worldwide, the experiences of two countries’ armed forces in countering illegal migration, and the possibilities for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Speaking about the security situation, General Mojsilović emphasized that respect of international law and the accomplished international agreements was crucial for maintaining peace and stability in the region and worldwide.

Regarding the security situation in the Southern Serbian Province, he emphasized that KFOR was expected to carry out the tasks under its mandate, in accordance with UN SC Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement, with the aim of ensuring security for all citizens of Kosovo and Metohija and stability in the Province.

During the meeting, it was stressed that both Serbia and Austria, as military neutral countries were committed to building their capabilities in cooperation with credible partners and discussed the possibilities for further development of bilateral military cooperation.

During his stay in Serbia, Chief of General Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces met with the Minister of Defense, Mr Aleksandar Vulin, and in the continuation of his visit he will participate in the 9th Belgrade Security Forum and visit the River Flotilla units in Novi Sad.
