Visit by Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr

Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, Vice Admiral Joachim Ruhle has paid a visit to the Republic of Serbia, during which he spoke with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković and officials of the Ministry of Defence.

During the meeting between General Cvetković and Vice Admiral Ruhle, the current security situation in the region and worldwide, illegal migration, and possibilities for enhancing bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and Germany were discussed.  

General Cvetković pointed out that it was the Republic of Serbia's determination, as a military-neutral country, to cooperate with all states and alliances in the areas of mutual interest. Speaking about the security situation, he stressed that respect for international law and the agreements reached, was crucial for maintaining peace in the region and worldwide. Regarding the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, General Cvetković emphasized that KFOR is expected to be neutral and contribute to the overall stability and, in particular, the security of the non-Albanian population.

Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, General Cvetković highlighted the positive experiences of joint engagement in EUTM Mali, peacekeeping operation in the Republic of Mali, as well as the developed cooperation in the field of military education.

During his stay in Serbia, Vice Admiral Ruhle had separate meetings with the State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Aleksandar Živković, and Head of the Military Health Department, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić. In continuation of his visit, he will deliver a lecture to the students of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies and the General Staff Course of the School of National Defence.
