Exhibition "Field Marshal Petar Bojovic – symbol of glory and honour" in Nis

At the Military Club in Nis, exhibition " Field Marshal Petar Bojovic – symbol of glory and honour” has been opened.

The opening was attended by Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Ljubisa Diković, Secretary General of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Nedeljko Tenjović, Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, members of the Serbian Armed Forces from the Nis garrison, representatives of military pensioners, organizations of reserve officers, associations of liberation wars, many personalities from public and cultural life of Nis and other guests.
 
Opening the exhibition, General Diković expressed his gratitude to all those who participated in the preparation of the exhibition, and especially to Rakic family, that enabled looking into all that Petar Bojovic left during his life.
 
"Field Marshal, thank you for leaving us the possibility to be proud of you and for leaving to us, the officers, the opportunity, studying your life and your work, to be worthy of you", Chief of General Staff said, adding: "Your heart beats in all Serbs, your heart is beating in all freedom-loving citizens of our Serbia today. May he rest in peace and eternal glory and thanks to our immortal Field Marshal Petar Bojovic".
 
Those present were addressed by Colonel Stevica Karapandžin, Head of Odbrana Media Centre and author of the exhibition, Radivoje Bojović - curator of the National Museum of Čačak.
 
Colonel Karapandžin recalled the life and work of Field Marshal Petar Bojovic, and pointing out that it will be 90 years since the liberation of Nis in the First World War, he added: "I am so happy that I can testify together with you , now, at this place, about an undoubtedly important historical moment when Nis liberator, the immortal Field Marshal and Serbian martyr Petar Bojovic, as he knew, resolutely set off to another big operation and victory."
 
Author of the exhibition Bojovic presented the setting of the exhibition dedicated to Field Marshal Petar Bojovic and pointed out that Petar Bojovic set off to the winding road of honour and glory below the Zlatar heaven and gained eternal glory in the Serbian wars for liberation and unification.
 
In the artistic programme,the character of Field Marshal Bojović was evoked by the actor of Knjaževac-Serbian theatre from Kragujevac, Zdravko Maletić, who performed the monodrama "On the carts to eternity", according to dramatic text by Vladimir Djordjevic.
 
The exhibition, which has great historical and cultural value for the Republic of Serbia, was jointly prepared by Odbrana Media Centre, the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the National Museum of Čačak with the help of the Army Command.
 
Interested citizens may visit the exhibition every day from 10 am to 6 pm, until 15 December 2016.
