CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO THE MEMBERS OF THE AIR FORCE AND AIR DEFENCE ON THE OCCASION OF THE DAY OF THE SERVICE – DECEMBER 24

On the occasion of the December 24 – the Air Force and Air Defence Day, I send cordially congratulations to all the members of the Service.

Your day is celebrated in memory of December 24, 1912, when, by the Decree of the Serbian Military Ministry and the Chief General Staff, Field Marshal Radomir Putnik issued a Decision on the establishment of the Air Force Command based in Niš.

Only 15 countries of the world at the time could boast a military that comprised aviation, and the following year during the siege of Shkodra, Serbia was among the 5 countries that used aircraft in combat operations.

The modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces Air Force continued this year by introducing of MiG 29 aircraft into the operational use, by the modernization of combat assets and successful international military exercises.

Performing all tasks, especially during Live Joint Tactical Exercise "A Century of Victors 1918–2018", conducted this year in November, you have successfully demonstrated a high operational capability to perform the most complex tasks and have contributed to improving the reputation of the Serbian Armed Forces, both in the country and abroad.

I congratulate you the holiday, convinced that in the following period you will successfully accomplish the assigned tasks, strengthen the operational capabilities and contribute to the affirmation of the Service and Serbian Armed Forces as a whole.
