Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević, accompanied by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited the Army Command in Niš, today. Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, briefed the minister about the organization, dispositions, missions and tasks of this operational command.

After the meeting with the officers who hold the most responsible positions in the Army, Minister Vučević said that the Ministry of Defence would continue to strengthen the Serbian Armed Forces and would strive to improve service members’ living standards, with the support of the government and the President of the Republic.

— I feel honoured to be here at the Army Command today, together with the Chief of the General Staff. I would like to congratulate them on everything they have been doing to defend and protect our homeland, Serbia. Primarily on the tasks they have performed and are still performing in the Ground Safety Zone — said the Minister of Defence.

According to him, this is the most challenging and the most demanding task, considering the current political situation.

— With the support of the government and the President of the Republic, and facilitated by the economic growth of the country, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces will continue the process of strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces, providing them with better equipment and more modern weapons, finding solutions for service members’ housing issues and improving living standards for all members of the defence system — said Vučević.

According to him, efforts to increase the number of service personnel will be made.

— Not to play heroes or to threaten anyone, but in order for the Serbian Armed Forces to remain what they are, the strongest deterrent against those who have bad intentions towards our homeland, the Republic of Serbia — Minister Vučević concluded.
