Marking the Day of the 63rd Parachute Brigade

A ceremony was held today at the military airport "Sergeant-pilot Mihajlo Petrović" in Niš on the occasion of the Day of the 63rd Parachute Brigade and the Day of Military Paratroopers, which are marked in memory of October 14, 1944, when the First parachute battalion of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia was formed in a military base near Bari in Italy.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the commands and units of the Serbian Armed Forces, former commanders, family members of the killed members of the unit and representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Association of Veterans of the 63rd Parachute Brigade.

In front of the ceremonial formation of members of the unit, the results of the work in the year behind us were summarized and the most prominent individuals were presented with awards and recognitions. The Bishop of Niš and the Military Bishop, Arsenije, presented the Commander of the 63rd Parachute Brigade with the Order of Saint Sava of the Second Order, with which the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church decorated the unit for its great role in defending the homeland and protecting the Serbian people.

Today, members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade marked the Patron Saint of the unit, the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, and the Holy Hierarch's Liturgy was held on that occasion by Bishop Arsenije.
