TO MEMBERS OF THE SERBIAN ARMED FORCES
ON THE OCCASION OF 23 APRIL – SERBIAN ARMED FORCES DAY
I wish to congratulate all members of the Serbian Armed Forces on 23 April – Serbian Armed Forces Day commemorating the Takovo Uprising in 1815 and heroic deeds of our ancestors during Serbia's liberation.
This is a very significant day in terms of preservation of our national identity and continuity of the statehood of the Serbian people and confirmation of our centuries-long orientation towards freedom, peace and tolerance.
There are new world crisis, challenges and threats emerging daily. In the time of crisis, citizens seek protection and support from their army, and members of the Serbian Armed Forces are always there for their people, in the most difficult of circumstances, risking lives, where most needed and where expected to arrive first.
The whole of the Serbian Armed Forces have force and capabilities, best organisation, determined and courageous manpower always ready to be there for a greater cause.
Dear members of the Serbian Armed Forces,
For many years, we have been trusted by our people, that is what we inherited and we need to justify that, we need to preserve a free country that we inherited from our ancestors for the new generations.
We will be developing our Serbian Armed Forces jointly, through training, modernisation of weapons, enhancement of the Armed Forces members' morale and their standard of living.
I am confident that you will complete professionally all assigned tasks thus strengthening operational capabilities of the defence system.
While extending my greetings on this holiday, I wish you a lot of health and happiness to you and your families.
