Regular Rotation of SAF Units Deployed with UNIFIL

A unit belonging to the Training Command, SAF, deployed with UNIFIL since last October, has returned to the Republic of Serbia having completed successfully its engagement in the mission.
In the last six months, this unit — designated as a force protection platoon — has been tasked with securing the base in which the Italian Contingent of international UN forces was located.
Following in the footsteps of their predecessors in this mission, SAF members have performed professionally and responsibly all the tasks in complex security conditions confirming in the best possible way the reputation of the Serbian soldier and Serbian Armed Forces in the international environment.
The rotation of the Serbian force protection platoons has taken place in Lebanon this week in the presence of the Commander of the Italian Contingent; it involved a ceremony of handing UN medals to SAF members for their successful participation in the mission. In the next six months, another Training Command unit, which was deployed to the AO in early March, will be in charge of the same tasks in this Middle Eastern country.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been participating in the UN peacekeeping operation in Lebanon since 2010. Except for the force protection platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces deploy an infantry company in this operation, as well as staff officers at the Mission HQ and a group of specialized officers in support of our contingent.
