Chief of Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Visits France

Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović is paying an official visit to the French Republic, at the invitation of Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Armed Forces Army General Thierry Burkhard.

The two-day visit began with a wreath-laying ceremony and ceremonial welcome for the Serbian Armed Forces delegation at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence and French Armed Forces in Paris, followed by official meetings.

During the talks between two delegations and meeting between generals Mojsilović and Burkhard, the discussion covered the regional and global security situation, cooperation between the Serbian and French Armed Forces so far and possibilities of boosting it further.

It has been agreed that the coming period should see the continued strengthening of the established cooperation between the Serbian and French Armed Forces in all areas of mutual interest, primarily in the field of training and education.

Continuing his visit, General Mojsilović met with French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu, with whom he discussed further development of defence cooperation and modalities of improving our military-economic cooperation. General Mojsilović pointed out that the Republic of Serbia was pursuing a balanced defence policy, with the aim of strengthening national, regional and global security, respecting the principle of territorial integrity and independence of all states, as well as principle of military neutrality.

During the talks, it was established jointly that our defence cooperation was developed, comprehensive and intensive, with the expectation to continue with the trend of strengthening the overall bilateral relations. 

On the first day of the visit, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff was presented with the capabilities, missions and organization of the Special Operations Command and Centre for Planning and Conduct of Operations. The Serbian Armed Forces delegation’s visit to France concludes tomorrow with a tour of the Mont-de-Marsan Air Base (BA 118).
