Meeting of Deputy Chiefs of Defence of Southeast Europe

Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković participated in the meeting of Deputy Chiefs of Defence of the member countries of the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Process, held today in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.
At the regular annual meeting of this regional initiative, the implementation of agreed activities and projects was discussed, and a joint statement was adopted, reaffirming commitment to regional dialogue at all levels as a key instrument for managing current crises.
In his address, General Janković emphasized that the Republic of Serbia is fully committed to respecting the Charter of the United Nations and all applicable United Nations Security Council resolutions, and that it recognizes the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Process as a good platform for developing regional understanding, dialogue and cooperation. On this occasion, he invited his colleagues from the region to participate in the next meeting of this initiative in the Deputy Chiefs of Defence format, to be held next year in Belgrade.
The South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Process (SEDM) was launched in 1996, and the Republic of Serbia has been a full member since 2010. The main objective of SEDM is to enhance understanding and intensify political-military cooperation in the region with a view to strengthening security in this part of Europe. Its member countries are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Romania, North Macedonia, the United States of America, Slovenia, Serbia, Türkiye, Ukraine, Croatia and Montenegro.
