Congratulatory Message by President of Republic and Supreme Commander of Serbian Armed Forces on the Occasion of the Artillery Day

On the occasion of 14 September, Artillery Day, I wish to extend my cordial congratulations to all members of the artillery branch, who, with their knowledge, responsibility and commitment preserve the reputation that has been created for more than a century.
The roots of artillery, embedded in the development of the Serbian army, originate from the establishment of the Artillery School and first artillery units, great challenges and glorious victories of our predecessors, leading to modern units that contribute with their capabilities to performing the most demanding tasks. The memory of generations that showed exceptional courage, perseverance and self-sacrifice, in the most difficult times, represents a permanent obligation for all of us who wear a uniform of this branch. Their example reminds us that the reputation is not only inherited through one’s name, but it is also confirmed daily with the professional attitude towards a duty, with knowledge and readiness to respond to intended tasks at any time.
Of particular satisfaction is the fact that members of the artillery units continuously improve the level of their skills and proficiency. The results achieved during the execution of preparatory and artillery live firing, and during the complex tactical exercises, confirm a high level of professionalism and readiness to perform tasks in different circumstances.
The state has recognized the importance of artillery, and therefore a significant amount of resources is allocated for its equipment and modernization. Investing in modern systems, improvement of training conditions, living and professional standards, represent a clear confirmation of the state’s determination for the Serbian Armed Forces to be powerful, modern and prepared to respond to all challenges. At the same time, such investments imply confidence in the people that will manage these resources and make modern technology a real capability in the field with their knowledge.
May the Artillery Day be a motivation for you to continue more decisively on the path of professional advancement and development of the even more powerful Serbian Armed Forces.
