A period of intensive training is underway at the Serbian Armed Forces training centres in Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac for soldiers who began their military service at the beginning of this month.

After becoming familiar with the basic rules of military organisation, successfully adapting to life and work in barracks and taking the military oath, the soldiers are now undergoing practical training at training grounds and in specialised classrooms. This is the first phase of the initial period of military service, which is identical for soldiers of all branches and services and will be completed in mid-July.

During this period, the soldiers will be trained in the use of personal weapons, military equipment, mines and explosive ordnance, the execution of basic tactical actions in offence and defence, and the performance of internal service duties. This will adequately prepare them for subsequent training in the use of the combat systems and military equipment specific to their respective branches or services.

At the end of this phase, the soldiers will undergo an assessment of their ability to perform basic individual tasks, after which they will be transferred to specialist training centres.

Although they have been in the military for only a month, the young soldiers are demonstrating exceptional commitment and a high level of motivation to master all the content prescribed by the training programme. Many of them have already expressed a desire to become professional soldiers of the Serbian Armed Forces and may apply while still performing their military service.
