Civilian Personnel Serving in the SAF

Civilian personnel serving in the Serbian Armed Forces are civil servants in the military and military appointees.

A civil servant in the military is a person whose job consists of tasks within the jurisdiction of the Serbian Armed Forces and related general legal, IT, financial, accounting and administrative tasks.

A military appointee is a person whose job consists of supporting, auxiliary and technical tasks in the Serbian Armed Forces.

Admission of civilian personnel to the Serbian Armed Forces is conducted:


  • With a public announcement of job vacancies, and
  • Without a public announcement.

Public job advertisement is announced by the Ministry of Defence in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia and some of the daily media outlets with national coverage. The advertisement is also submitted to the responsible employment agency.

Civilian personnel serving in the Serbian Armed Forces are admitted without public announcement through transfer from another government organization, as scholarship holders, and in other cases, under the conditions stipulated by the Act on the Serbian Armed Forces.
