On the occasion of marking February 15 — the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the order of Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard performed a gun salute today from the Sava Plateau on Kalemegdan.
The Guard representative orchestra played the anthem of the Republic of Serbia, while raising the national flag.
Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić attended the ceremonial firing of 10 volleys from six artillery pieces each.
Serbia celebrates its Statehood Day on February 15 in memory of the day when the First Serbian Uprising broke out in 1804 under the leadership of Vožd Karađorđe and when the Candlemas Constitution (Sretenjski ustav), the first modern constitution of Serbia, was adopted in 1835.
