The youngest soldiers on military service, who were admitted to the Serbian Armed Forces basic training centers in early December, are doing stationary camp in the vicinity of Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac.
Soldiers of all specialties go through this form of basic individual training in the field at the end of the first training phase in the Serbian Armed Forces, during which they master initial contents of tactical and firearms training.
During their stay at the training grounds, soldiers apply the acquired knowledge and improve their military skills in performing basic combat tasks in defense and attack and become used to living and working in field conditions.
As explained by the commander of the platoon for training in firing specialty at the 3rd Training Center, 2nd Lt Nemanja Turuk, as part of the stationary camp at the “Međa” training ground near Leskovac, soldiers, among other things, execute preparatory and demonstration firing.
— The purpose of preparatory firing is to check and train soldiers in uniform, accurate and precise firing, both during the day and at night. Apart from firing, they also implement tactical training contents. During the tactical training, we do the placement of the anti-tank high-explosive mine 6, the use of the M-53 hand compass, the movement of soldiers on the battlefield and the use of body protection assets. The goal of the stationary camp is to train soldiers for living and working in field conditions, as well as for fighting in different weather conditions, said 2nd Lt. Turuk.
Soldier Voja Đorđević, who applied for military service after completing the Technical High School in his hometown Prokuplje, points out that for him serving in the Serbian Armed Forces is an honor, an expression of responsibility towards the state and an opportunity to gain working habits, new experience and to socialize.
— I think it is important for personal and professional development. The training was demanding, but I got through it together with my colleagues and good officers. When I told my parents that I was going to serve in the military, they were happy and excited because I was continuing the family tradition, said soldier Đorđević.
After returning from the field, soldiers of the “December 2025” intake will undergo a skills assessment, which will show how ready they are for the implementation of individual tasks, after which they will be sent to specialist training centers to be trained for duties they were recruited for.
