Air Force and Air Defense Day

At the Air Force and Air Defense command and units, the Day of this arm of the Serbian Armed Forces has been solemnly celebrated today, marking December 24, 1912, when the decision was made on the formation of the Air Force Command headquartered in Niš.
On the occasion of the holiday, the work results in the year behind were summarized, awards and recognitions presented to deserving individuals, and wreaths laid at memorials in barracks and military airfields.
The central ceremony was held at the Air Force Club in Zemun, in the presence of Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Mile Jelic, vicar bishop of Lipjan and military Dositej, members of the collegiums of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff, active and retired members of the AF and AD, representatives of local government bodies, religious communities and institutions with which successful cooperation has been achieved, and many other guests.
At the beginning of the ceremony, a congratulatory message by Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić was read.
The guests were welcomed by Air Force and Air Defense Commander, Major General Brane Krnjajić, who recalled the long history of the development of the Air Force and Air Defense, stating that we could be proud of our aviation ancestors because there was not a single turning point in history that our people were not up to.
- Driven by strong patriotism, self-confident and determined to stand up to any aggressor, they always put the defense of their homeland and the free sky of Serbia above their lives. It is something to be proud of, but in the times ahead it is also a great obligation for all of us, to cherish the memories of all our fallen co-fighters, as well as all the heroic deeds, successes and achievements of numerous generations of airmen - said, among other things, General Krnjajić.
At today’s ceremony, the Air Force and Air Defense Commander presented a plaque to the representative of the company “Aeroklub Valjevo” for successful cooperation in 2025, and the program was completed by the performance of the Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defense “Stanislav Binički” and presenting the short documentary film “Air Force and Air Defense over the last year”.
