Chief of General Staff Laid Wreath on Avala on Occasion of Military Veterans Day

Today, as an envoy of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović has laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala, on the occasion of the Military Veterans Day.

With military honors, the anthem of the Republic of Serbia and ceremonial formation of the Guard, General Mojsilović laid a wreath accompanied by Guard Commander Major General Željko Furundžić and Head of the Human Resources Directorate (J-1) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Brigadier General Slađan Hristov.

On this occasion, the Chief of the General Staff wrote in the memorial book:

“With sincere admiration and respect, we pay tribute to all soldiers who, at any cost, bravely and resolutely defended our Serbia and the right to freedom of all its citizens.

We have the obligation to justify the role of descendants of our glorious ancestors and to preserve peace and freedom, building the future of our only homeland - Serbia, on the foundations of their eternal deeds.”

The Military Veterans Day marks the date in 1912 when the armistice was signed in the First Balkan War and when 400,000 soldiers of the Army of the Kingdom of Serbia earned the title “old warrior”, thus becoming military veterans.
