Stationary Camp of Soldiers on Military Service

Soldiers of the December 2024 intake performing military service at the Army Training Center have completed their stationary camp at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground.
During their stay in the field, they practiced the tactics and carried out scheduled firing using branch-specific weapons, in order to deepen their knowledge and acquire skills needed to perform successfully defensive and offensive combat tasks.
Doing practical activities at the training ground is an introduction to the collective training that the soldiers, in accordance with their specialties, will undergo in the Serbian Armed Forces’ units.
During the camp, soldiers on military service carry out all assigned actions in order to be better trained and better qualified to carry out specific tasks in combat, explained Army Training Center Commander — Colonel Duško Jović.
— The Army Training Center, as a Training Command unit, is intended for individual specialist training, primarily for soldiers on military service. At the Center, we train 54 Army specialties. Soldiers who come to perform their military service here are trained to perform smoothly all tasks in peacetime or in combat, said Colonel Jović.
Deputy Commander of the Training Battalion at the Army Training Center, Major Mladen Vučeljić, has explained that the aim of the camp is for soldiers to get familiar with the organization of life and work of soldiers and units in field conditions, which means staying under tents, this time in the snow, organizing food in field conditions and continuing practical training in the field, including implementation of a ten-kilometer march.
— As a crown of everything they have learned and mastered recently, this week, the soldiers are expected to perform live firing using collective weapons, depending on their branch, that is, their specialty. In the course of this camp, the soldiers will certainly gain the most knowledge, and the time they spend together, they will remember it for the rest of their lives — said Major Vučeljić, adding that, in the December class, they were training artillery, engineer and infantry soldiers, including those of the renaissance and MP specialties.
Private 1st Class Boris Varzanović, doing voluntarily military service in the Army Training Center, December class, a sniper by specialty, points out that he is more than satisfied with the organization of field activities and the relationship with the officers. He says that the most demanding thing for him was preparing the camp area.
— The temperature used to be below minus ten degrees Celsius, but that wasn’t a problem. The team spirit in the Serbian Armed Forces is essential because if you don’t have a healthy team spirit, you won’t accomplish any mission. A soldier himself means nothing without his class-mates — emphasized Varzanović, revealing that his ambition was to get employed by the Serbian Armed Forces’ Guard.
After returning from the five-day stationary camp at the Pasuljanske Livade, the soldiers of the December 2024 intake are expected to undergo a skills evaluation, after which they will be sent to the Serbian Armed Forces’ units for a three-month collective training.
