Ceremonial March-Past of Military Bands and Arms Presentation in the Towns of Serbia

Today, on the eve of the Statehood Day, in the centre of Belgrade, a representative orchestra of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard performed a ceremonial march-past.

Today, on the eve of the Statehood Day, in the centre of Belgrade, a representative orchestra of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard performed a ceremonial march-past from the Square of the Republic and Knez Mihajlova Street to the Military Museum.
 
Numerous citizens observed the performance of the Guard orchestra which started today’s march-past in the main street of the capital with the sound of “Marš na Drinu” and the repertoire included the military marches which they performed at several places along this pedestrian zone. Spontaneous applauding followed every melody of the march-past which was particularly enjoyed by the youngest fellow citizens.
 
As part of observing the Statehood Day, Military band from Niš also carried out the ceremonial march-past in that town from the Square of King Milan and Obrenovićeva Street to the Square of King Aleksandar.
 
On the occasion of Candlemas – the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, the Army units and units of Training Command organised today a presentation of arms and military equipment in Užice, Prijepolje, Loznica, Subotica, Bor, Paraćin, Jagodina and Petrovac na Mlavi.
 
Numerous citizens, school and preschool children, representatives of local government, organisation of reserve officers and NCOs and media representatives in the towns where the units of the Serbian Armed Forces are stationed, had an opportunity to see arms, assets and equipment that the units of the Serbian Armed Forces use in their work.
 
The observers were especially interested in the demonstration of infantry armament and equipment, telecommunication and optoelectronic devices, radars and guns, as well as in conversing with the members of the armed forces where the youngest fellow citizens were as usual the most enthusiastic.
 
Today’s activities included the participation of the members of the First and Second Army Brigade, River Flotilla, Army Training Centre, Command for Development of Timok Brigade, Command for Development of Rasina Brigade, Logistics Training Centre, CBRN Training Centre and the members of the Combined training ground “Pasuljanske livade”.
 
These are the activities by which the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces have started observing the Statehood Day celebrated in memory of Candlemas 1804 when the First Serbian Uprising started and the liberation from the Turks, while on the same date in 1835 the first modern Constitution of Serbia was adopted.
 
The celebration of the Statehood Day of Serbia, Candlemas – 15th February, unifies the identity of the state and armed forces, thus restoring the deepest link in the Serbian statehood tradition.
