Tactical Еxercise of Serbian and Hungarian River Units

Members of the River Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces and the First Demining Regiment of the Hungarian Armed Forces conducted a tactical exercise with live fire „Iron Cat 2021“ at the temporary range „Titel“ on the river Tisa.

The exercise was conducted with the aim of exchanging experiences in the application of tactics, techniques and procedures in the protection of river traffic and improving cooperation with the Hungarian Armed Forces.

During the five-day exercise, members of the river units of Serbia and Hungary practiced combat operations and procedures in the protection of river traffic, with the execution of live fire on targets on the water. In addition to anti-ship and anti-mine actions, procedures were practiced during the removal of the sunken object, rescue and medical evacuation of drowned people and extinguishing fires on the ship. This year, special emphasis was placed on developing the capabilities of the joint command of the navigable tactical group for planning, preparation and execution of river traffic protection operations.

The final segment of the exercise was attended today by the commander of the River Flotilla, Navy Captain Ljubiša Marković, and the commander of the First Demining Regiment, Colonel Zsolt Szilágyi.

Joint exercise of the River Flotilla and the First Demining Regiment called „Iron Cat“ has been conducted since 2011, alternately in Serbia and Hungary. This was the tenth such exercise of the river units of the two countries.
