Criminal Investigation Group
The purpose of the Military Police Criminal Investigation Group is the planning, organization and execution of tasks and activities of crime suppression in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
The Military Police Criminal Investigation Group is directly subordinated to the Military Police Directorate of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Military Police Criminal Investigation Group performs tasks of preventing, discovering and resolving criminal acts in the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in their areas of responsibility. They operate through administering powers defined by the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Serbia and the Act on Police.
Tasks of the Criminal Investigation Group
CIG performs the prevention, detection and documentation of criminal acts under the requests of the responsible prosecutor, and technical and other expert support to the Military Security Agency, as required.
The Criminal Investigation Group cooperates with competent prosecutor offices and courts and acts on their requests in accordance with the prescribed powers.
Also, in performing its tasks, the Criminal Investigation Group directly cooperates with the Ministry of Interior, the Military Security Agency, commands, units and institutions of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and other government organizations and institutions.
Background of the CIG
Criminal Investigation Group was established by the decision of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia on May 10, 2006.
