Day of Serbian Armed Forces IT Service Marked

In the Serbian Armed Forces, Day of the IT Service and Day of the Command Information Systems and IT Support Center have been solemnly celebrated today.
At the ceremonies held on that occasion in the Telecommunications and IT Directorate (J-6) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff and its subordinate units, the results achieved by members of the IT service in the past year were summarized and awards presented to the most successful individuals.
In reviewing the key achievements, it has been concluded that the information service successfully responded to its assignments and ensured the continuity of the telecommunications and IT security of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces. The active participation of service members in the preparation and implementation of the modernization project of the Serbian Armed Forces “Digital Army” and in the development of new capabilities for operating in cyberspace was particularly highlighted.
Day of the IT Service and Day of the Command Information Systems and IT Support Center are marked in memory of February 21, 1963, which is considered to be the beginning of the introduction of computer technology in the armed forces. On that day, the Sixth Administration of the General Staff of the JNA was formed, to which the first military institution equipped with computer systems was subordinated. That visionary act represented a response to the imperative of the time to modernize the administrative service and laid the foundation for what is today a modern, digitalized defense system.
