Analysis of State of Affairs and Capabilities of Serbian Armed Forces for Year 2024

A regular annual analysis of the state of affairs and operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces for the year 2024 has been completed at Topčider Barracks in Belgrade today, with a briefing to Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić.

The briefing was led by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović, and was attended by Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić, civil servants and highest-ranking officers in the MOD and Serbian Armed Forces.

The Supreme Commander has said that today’s review included not only the results achieved in the improvement of capabilities, acquisitions and training but also the future steps toward strengthening the defense capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.

He has pointed out that the discussion also covered the current security threats and challenges at the global level, and underlined the importance of international cooperation and participation in peacekeeping missions, which contributes additionally to strengthening our potential and reputation.

— The military is the pillar of our security and the pride of our country. We continue with its modernization and development, investing in its equipment and people, because strong Serbian Armed Forces mean a peaceful and secure future - President Vučić concluded.

Today’s briefing covered the security situation in the country and the surrounding area, conditions in which the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces are being built, the state of the units and overall operational and functional capabilities, with defining this year’s and mid-term priorities of the MOD and Serbian Armed Forces.

With thanks to the Supreme Commander and Government of the Republic of Serbia for supporting strongly the strengthening of the Serbian Armed Forces, it has been emphasized that, in the past year, skills of the active and reserve force were enhanced as well as the combat readiness of the units, the intensive process of acquiring new equipment continued, and the planned and unplanned tasks were fully accomplished.

The conclusion of the regular annual analysis is that the Serbian Armed Forces have the ability to perform tasks from all three missions, defend the security and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and be a factor of peace and stability in the country and the region.
