Gun Salute Commemorating Victory Day

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard today fired a gun salute from the Sava Terrace in Kalemegdan Park to mark May 9 – Victory over Fascism Day.

After the national flag was raised and the anthem played, the Order of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, was read out. Following this, members of the Guard performed a gun salute, firing ten rounds from six artillery pieces.

Victory over Fascism Day commemorates May 9, 1945, when the Germany signed its unconditional surrender, which brought the Second World War in Europe to an end.
