By order of Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard performed a gun salute on the eve of the Day of Victory over Fascism in the Second World War.
From the Sava Plateau of Kalemegdan, ten volleys were fired from six artillery pieces each, after raising the national flag, playing the anthem of the Republic of Serbia and reading the order for the gun salute.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense Mile Jelić and Guard Commander Brigadier General Željko Furundžić.
The Day of Victory over Fascism is marked in memory of 09 May 1945, when the unconditional capitulation of Germany ended World War II in Europe.
