Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, is on a multi-day visit to the United States of America at the invitation of the Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard, Brigadier General Matthew Woodruff.

The visit takes place in the year marking the 20th anniversary of the state partnership between Serbia and Ohio, characterized by the constant development of military relations, with the cooperation between the National Guard of that American state and the state administration and local government bodies in Serbia and the implementation of numerous mutually beneficial projects.

During the meeting, General Mojsilović and General Woodruff have expressed their satisfaction with the results of the long-term cooperation, which was assessed as extremely successful, comprehensive, concrete and aimed at raising the level of operational capabilities of the armed forces and strengthening the overall relations between Serbia and the United States of America. The willingness to expand further that cooperation in the areas of our common interest was expressed.

As part of his visit to the U.S.A., General Mojsilović took part in the “Joint Senior Leader Conference” (JSLC), an annual meeting for senior officers and CSMs of the Ohio National Guard, to which representatives of the armed forces of partner countries - Angola, Hungary and Serbia - were invited.

At the Conference, he has presented the achievements in capabilities development and modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces, strategic defense priorities and the future outlook of the Serbian Armed Forces as modern, highly equipped and trained armed forces capable of defending the country and citizens and being a factor of peace and stability in the region. In particular, he has pointed out that a cycle of unrecorded strengthening and modernization of the armed forces in recent Serbian history is underway, supported by the fact that more than half of the total defense budget goes to investments in new weapons and military equipment.

During his stay in the capital of Ohio, Columbus, two decades of the state partnership were celebrated. On that occasion, General Mojsilović received an award presented by Ohio Governor Richard Michael DeWine to mark the anniversary.

In the U.S., the Chief of the General Staff met with Chief of the General Staff of the Hungarian Defense Forces, General Gábor Böröndi, who also participated in the conference. It was an opportunity to exchange opinions on current military issues, the security situation and modalities of future cooperation.

Afterwards, during the visit, General Mojsilović will visit the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence (NAAMC) in Springfield, where he will be presented with the mission, goals and priorities of this institution of the Ohio National Guard.
