At the invitation of Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović, Chairman of the EU Military Committee General Robert Brieger is paying a three-day visit to our country.

General Brieger has been received today separately by Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the General Staff General Milan Mojsilović.

During his visit to the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Brieger has discussed with General Mojsilović the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, in the region and the world, as well as the overall mutual relations, focusing on the engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces in the EU Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) activities.

At the meeting, the involvement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the EU military operations was evaluated extremely positively and determination to expand that involvement by sending a staff officer to the mission in Mozambique was welcomed, as well as the participation in the EU Battle Group “HELBROC” and the “Single European Sky” Project.

General Mojsilović has pointed out that the Serbian Armed Forces are committed to strengthening military cooperation with the European Union within the CSDP framework, with full respect for the military neutrality of the Republic of Serbia, assessing that this cooperation is mutually beneficial.

Speaking of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, which he assessed as unstable and unpredictable, General Mojsilović has indicated that the Republic of Serbia considers KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in our southern province, which is expected to implement its mandate strictly and impartially, providing a safe environment for everyone, and, above all, for the citizens of Serbian nationality.

During his stay in the Republic of Serbia, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee will also visit the University of Defence, where he will deliver a lecture to participants in the advanced career training courses, and he will visit the Serbian Armed Forces’ Peacekeeping Operations Centre.
