Flight Training in Transport Squadron

Flight training for personnel of the 138th Transport Squadron is being conducted intensively at the “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović” Military Airfield in Batajnica, and wider areas surrounding Belgrade and Niš.

The training objective is to maintain and enhance the proficiency of the flight and technical personnel of this unit—part of the 204th Air Force Brigade—in carrying out the squadron’s assigned tasks.

The unit’s primary asset—a C-295 transport aircraft acquired three years ago for the Serbian Armed Forces—has proven to be excellent. Its modern navigation system and equipment, along with a spacious cabin, greatly facilitate the work of our pilots, who can keep the aircraft airborne for extended periods thanks to its low fuel consumption.

Captain 1st Class Đorđe Luković, Assistant Commander for Transport and Airdrop Operations in the 138th Transport Squadron, explains what a typical flying day looks like in his unit and highlights the advantages of the C-295 transport aircraft. “This aircraft has significantly enhanced our flight operations; specifically, our operational range has increased, our navigation instruments have been modernized, and a digital cockpit has been introduced, meaning we can execute our missions with great flexibility,” Captain Luković stated.

C-295 transport aircraft are designed for the transport of personnel and cargo, including VIP and medical transport missions; their introduction into operational service with the Serbian Armed Forces has significantly enhanced our Air Force capabilities regarding the transport and deployment of units and mobile assets to the AO.
