Winter Cycle of Flight Training With Multipurpose Helicopters

In the helicopter squadron of the 204th Air Force Brigade, which is based at the “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović” military airfield in Batajnica, the winter flight training cycle is underway.

The goal is to improve the unit’s skills and maintain the skills of the flight crews of multi-purpose helicopters “Gazelle” and H-145 for the execution of flight tasks in favorable and complex meteorological conditions, when limited visibility, uniformity of terrain and the lifting of the snow curtain make flying difficult. On the outskirts of Belgrade, group flying, flying at low altitudes along the route, off-airport take-off and landing on unsecured terrain are practiced, day and night.

In the unit, the basic flight training of cadets of the 4th year of the Military Academy of the Military Aviation Study Program is underway, which is carried out with “Gazelle” helicopters and includes control and independent flights and landing and take-off exercises.

The implementation of intensive flight training in the squadrons of the Serbian Armed Forces was made possible by large investments in the Air Force. By equipping with new helicopters and improving the maintenance capacity, the availability of aircraft for training has been increased many times. Thanks to this, the flight crews have much more flight time, achieving thus a higher level of combat capability, and the cadets undertake advanced forms of flight training immediately after being admitted to professional military service.
