A Special Purpose MP Detachment “Cobras” team has participated in the prestigious international special police units competition UAE SWAT CHALLENGE 2026 this year as well, held from February 7 to 11 in Dubai.

This year's competition featured record 109 teams from 48 countries — police counter-terrorism teams and tactical hostage rescue units and military special operations teams. As in previous years, apart from the Cobras, the Republic of Serbia was represented by teams of the Gendarmerie and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In strong competition of elite units from all over the world, members of the Cobras demonstrated superior tactical and firearms skills, great fighting spirit and team spirit in five disciplines that simulate complex security challenges and real crisis situations. Despite the great performance, especially in the three final disciplines, the team failed to repeat last year’s excellent result, largely owing to the judges’ penalties in the first part of the competition.

The UAE SWAT CHALLENGE has been held since 2019, organized by the Dubai Police. It represents a unique platform for sports competition, demonstration of skills, exchange of ideas and promotion of cooperation, understanding and best practices in the work of elite military and police units. The participation of teams from the Republic of Serbia in this competition has a positive effect on the overall bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates.
