Regular Training of Serbian Armed Forces Tank Crewmen

Members of the tank battalion from the 3rd Army Brigade are intensively trained in the area of the peacetime location and at the training ground in the vicinity of Niš with the aim of improving further their ability to perform specific tasks.
In the initial phase, tank crewmen are trained with the M-84 tank crew training simulator, which enables the acquisition and improvement of knowledge in the field of tank management, aiming and weapon handling, with the possibility of analysis and improvement of work, and then, at the training ground, they undergo tactical training.
Commander of the 36th Tank Battalion, Major Igor Savić, explains that the training is carried out in all terrain, weather and tactical conditions so that the unit is fully equipped for the execution of assigned missions and tasks.
— Training in the 36th Tank Battalion is a continuous process that takes place throughout the year. By conducting all planned contents, we are improving the capabilities of the crews and training them for the execution of specific tasks in a modern environment — said Major Savić and reminded that competitions for the admission of persons with civilian background to the Serbian Armed Forces tank units are underway.
Tank platoon commander, 2nd Lt. Danilo Popić, points out that the training is carried out in different conditions and in different terrain, among other things, in a cabinet with three different trainers — for initial driver training, for gunner training in handling automatic cannon and a simulator for training in aiming and firing.
— Instructors can see mistakes made by trainees and correct their work and actions accordingly. By working with these trainers, a high level of skills and practice is achieved and one gains confidence in the work and procedures performed in the field — emphasized 2nd Lt. Popić.
Young men and women interested in serving in this or another tank unit of the Serbian Armed Forces can apply for ongoing competitions for the admission of citizens to the positions of drivers and gunners of M-84 and T-72MS tanks in the battalions of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Army Brigades and in the T-72M Tank Battalion. The places of service are in Sremska Mitrovica, Kraljevo, Niš and Vranje, and the applications are open until July 15.
