Together with Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić has visited the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment “Cobras” in the “Vasa Čarapić” Barracks in Belgrade today.

While visiting the final works on the newly built facility for members of the Detachment, the President has pointed out that members of this unit have lived in substandard premises until now, and that despite this, they were always ready to protect the motherland and its interests.

— It is the only unit in Serbia in which not a single member “dropped out”, as we say in the Army, when we mobilized our forces, when the security of our people in Kosovo and Metohija was threatened. Not a single man “dropped out” and left the unit, and everyone reported to their superior command, President Vučić said.

On this occasion, the Supreme Commander has pointed out that the newly built facility covers an area of 10,000 square meters, consists of six levels, and that no special unit in Southeast Europe has such a facility.

— The facility will also be used by other special units that we have. We believe that no other unit of this size anywhere in the world has a facility like this. For the Unit Day, on April 14, we will fully open the facility and you will see how magnificent it will look only then. What you can see is that we did everything as planned — said the President of Serbia and announced that the arrangement of the Guard’s premises is about to begin soon.

President Vučić has emphasized that all military facilities are located in a small area, which is also important because of the chain of command and daily work, which will be significantly facilitated in that case.

— Everything is located within two or three kilometers, or a kilometer to two, here with the new facility of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, which is not far from here. We will continue our investment in the armed forces - stated the President of Serbia.

He wished the special units members good luck and much success, stressing that the members of “Cobras” are preparing for the competition in Dubai, where they had a lot of success last year.

— The Hungarian anti-terrorist special unit TEK was the only unit that was slightly ahead of us in the region, everyone else was behind. You never know, it’s very difficult to compete with Chinese and Kazakh special forces. We will give our best to be successful. The most important thing is that the guys do their best, you saw that they hardly sleep — they try very hard, fight, train in order to represent Serbia and themselves in the best possible light, just like the members of other Serbian police and military units, the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, the SAJ, the Gendarmerie and the 63rd Parachute Brigade — said President Vučić, adding that there were also plans for working on accommodation facilities for members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, which would make their every-day tasks easier.

Commander of the Special Purpose MP Detachment “Cobras” Colonel Darko Đošić has pointed out that with the construction of this facility and the following adaptation and reconstruction of other facilities that are located within the “Vasa Čarapić” barracks, after almost 48 years, this unit is provided with the most modern and best conditions for accommodation, living, working and training of all members.

— In addition to tactical, fire and physical training facilities, we have everything else to support our life and work. I am grateful both personally and on behalf of former and current members, for everything that our state and military leadership are doing for our armed forces - said Colonel Đošić.
