Soldiers performing voluntary military service from the December 2025 intake and participants in the 3rd NCO Course have taken the oath during a ceremony held at the Field Marshal Živojin Mišić Barracks in Valjevo today.
By pronouncing the oath in front of the flag of the Republic of Serbia, they pledged to preserve and defend the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.
The ceremony has been attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, Commander of Training Command Brigadier General Dragiša Zlatković, Bishop Isihije of Valjevo, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces’ units and local government bodies, as well as relatives and friends of the young men and women who have taken the oath.
On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Minister Gašić has congratulated the soldiers and future NCOs on taking the oath and emphasized that it is pleasure for him to be present at this solemn and sublime event as one of the most significant moments in every soldier’s life, which has a long tradition and special meaning among our people.
In his address, Minister of Defence has highlighted that care for all members is always one of the priorities of the work in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and therefore a proposal to amend the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces has been recently adopted, and in this manner the position of professional personnel, professional soldiers in particular, has been greatly improved.
After taking the oath, the youngest soldiers are supposed to continue intensive basic training and, subsequently, training for the roles for which they were recruited, while NCO candidates will continue their training at the Training Command centres.
