Tactical Training for Armored Reconnaissance Battalion Personnel

Monday, 5.10.2026 | Training
Tactical training is currently underway at Serbian Armed Forces training grounds near Niš for personnel of the Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, focusing on the execution of intelligence support tasks during Army operations.

The training is conducted to maintain and enhance the unit members’ proficiency in intelligence gathering under various tactical conditions, as well as to induct new personnel into the unit.

During field activities, scouts practice tactical actions and procedures for observation and data collection, as well as the organization of patrols and ambushes, utilizing the unit’s primary combat vehicle—the BRDM-2MS armored reconnaissance vehicle.

Special attention is focused on training officers and soldiers who have recently joined the unit and been assigned as drivers and gunners on the combat vehicle. In addition to carrying out reconnaissance missions, they are being trained in the proper and safe operation of the armored reconnaissance vehicle and its combat employment.

Next, the unit personnel will undergo training in overcoming water obstacles using both standard-issue and improvised watercraft, followed by tactical exercises designed to assess the proficiency of the scouts and the unit in executing their assigned tasks.

Conducting training under all conditions—which members of the Armored Reconnaissance Battalion undergo throughout the year—is crucial for maintaining the unit’s capability to provide reliable and verified intelligence, which is of great importance for the success of Serbian Armed Forces operations.
