Today, the Serbian Armed Forces solemnly marked the Day of the Armored Units, in memory of October 31, 1941—the date when, during the battles for the liberation of Kraljevo, the revolutionaries used tanks for the first time.

To mark the occasion, special military ceremonies were held within the tank and mechanized battalions of the Serbian Armed Forces. During these events, the results achieved over the past year were reviewed, and awards and commendations presented to the most successful individuals. The ceremony at the “Knjaz Mihailo” Barracks in Niš was attended by Commander of the Serbian Army, Major General Zoran Nasković.

The observance of the holiday served as an opportunity to reflect on the rich history of the armored units and to highlight key achievements in the modernization and capability development of this branch—rightfully considered the “striking fist” of the Serbian Armed Forces’ land component.

Equipped with the most powerful and effective systems within the Army—characterized by significant firepower, mobility, and armored protection—and bolstered by the high level of competence and professionalism of their soldiers and officers, these armored units play a leading role in both offensive and defensive operations.
