Training With Most Powerful Air Defence Systems in Serbian Armed Forces
Monday, 2.2.2026 | Training
In the battalion of the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade, armed with the FK-3 missile system, intensive training is underway for the implementation of tasks needed to protect the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
The training objective is to improve the skills of combat crews and the overall operational capabilities of the unit, the focus being on preparation and execution of anti-aircraft operations.
As Battalion Commander Major Vladan Škrkić has pointed out, the FK-3 missile system has been used since 2022, and its introduction into the arsenal significantly improved the ability of the 250th Missile Brigade and the Serbian Armed Forces on the whole to respond properly to modern aerial threats.
— With the introduction of the FK-3 missile system, our units became capable of destroying multiple targets simultaneously at long distances, which significantly increased the efficiency and reliability to respond to aerial threats. It is a pillar of the air defence of the Republic of Serbia, extremely important for the Serbian Armed Forces and Air Force and Air Defence because it is a significant step forward in our air defence modernization. It enables a high level of adaptability to modern aerial threats. With its characteristics, such as a range of up to 100 kilometers and a firing height of up to 27 kilometers, it provides exceptional opportunities for defending key administrative-political and economic facilities, as well as the units of the Serbian Armed Forces. The introduction of this system has strengthened our ability to adapt to modern combat conditions, where speed and precision are vital in providing a quick response to threats — explained Major Škrkić.
Commander of the missile battery, Captain Aleksandar Jovanić, has emphasized that the training consists of theoretical and practical parts, during which the necessary knowledge for handling the system is acquired, and that special emphasis is placed on the coordinated work of all its elements, speed of reaction, precision and meticulousness in the implementation of tasks. The training, he says, is gradual, has several stages that enable reaching and maintaining the prescribed level of competence of each individual, but also of the unit on the whole, and is carried out continuously throughout the year.
— The number and composition of the combat crew depend on the specific task and conditions, but the most important thing is teamwork and coordination of all members, because this is the only way to effectively implement anti-aircraft operations using a modern and sophisticated missile system such as the FK-3 — said Captain Jovanić.
Replenishment of launch vehicles with anti-aircraft missiles is an important activity in the preparation phase and during the execution of anti-aircraft operations, because it directly affects the maintenance of the continuity of combat readiness of the unit, explained the commander of the missile guidance platoon, Captain Jovana Dobrijević.
— It is especially important for the FK 3 missile system, because it enables the simultaneous launch of two missiles at one target, which is why replenishing launch vehicles in a timely manner is of crucial importance for efficiency — said Captain Dobrijević.
Continuous training of members of the 250th Missile Brigade, which is the linchpin of firepower in the air defence system of the Republic of Serbia, ensures a high degree of ability of the Missile Brigade to make a timely preparation and engage aerial targets with modern missile systems.
