The intensive flight training of cadets-pilots of the final year of the Military Academy is being conducted on multipurpose transport helicopters Mi-17 at the "Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović" Military Airfield in Batajnica.

It is the training of the cadets of the fifth year of the Military Academy, the study programme Military Aviation, who are being trained for the duty of a helicopter pilot in the helicopter section.

The conditions for the execution of this training have been met owing to the significant equipping of the Air Force and Air Defence in previous years, thus, after more than two decades the training of cadets is conducted on transport helicopters which is of immeasurable importance for their general competence and readiness for initial officer duties.

The training of the Military Academy cadets is being conducted in the 890th Mixed Helicopter Squadron of the 204th Air Force Brigade. The cadets previously mastered the basic training on "Gazelle" helicopters and now, during the fifth year of their studies, they are undergoing retraining, basic and combat training on the Mi-17 helicopter.

In this way, the helicopter squadron will get a new generation of aviation second lieutenants in September, competent to perform assigned tasks on this type of helicopter.
