Ceremonial Send-off for Serbian Armed Forces Personnel Deploying to Peacekeeping Operation

A ceremonial send-off has been held today at the “Knjaz Mihailo” Barracks in Niš for an infantry company from the 3rd Army Brigade, which will be deployed to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of the Operations Directorate (J-3) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Vladan Milosavljević; Chief of the Human Resources Directorate (J-1), Brigadier General Slađan Hristov; His Eminence Metropolitan Arsenije of Niš; representatives of Serbian Armed Forces units and local government bodies; as well as relatives and friends of the soldiers and officers deploying on the mission.
General Milosavljević presented the flag of the Republic of Serbia to the infantry company commander, Major Milan Milosavljević, and wished the members of the Serbian Armed Forces every success in representing the military and the state honorably, professionally, and with dignity in an international environment.
Over the next six months, the Serbian Armed Forces infantry company will be carrying out peacekeeping tasks as part of the Spanish contingent in UNIFIL’s Sector East.
The Serbian Armed Forces began participating in this peacekeeping operation in 2010. An infantry company has been deployed since 2013, and a force protection platoon is currently present in the area of operations, alongside staff officers and a group of specialists responsible for supporting the Serbian contingent.
