Training of River Units of Serbia and Hungary on the Danube

Joint search and rescue (SAR) river training of units of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hungarian Defence Forces has been conducted on the Danube near Budapest.
During seven days of intensive activities, the naval and diving units of the two armed forces practiced joint action in the conditions requiring precision, coordination and quick reaction. In realistic scenarios on and under water, the crews practiced maneuvering, engaging targets on the water and land, and finding a sunken object, sharing experience in the application of tactics, techniques and procedures.
The river flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces was represented by three ships with crews and divers onboard. While performing joint exercise tasks, our soldiers and officers showed a high level of skill and readiness for cooperation with Hungarian partners.
The training was made especially dynamic by participation of members of the 1st Special Operations Brigade of the Hungarian Defence Forces, who, in cooperation with river multi-purpose ships, did a demonstration of destroying a terrorist group on the riverbank and seizing an enemy ship.
The joint training confirmed a high level of interoperability, strengthening additionally confidence, understanding and friendship between the river units of Serbia and Hungary, which have been successfully cooperating for many years in building the ability to perform combat and non-combat activities in the vicinity of waterways.
