At the radar positions in the units of the 126th ASEWG Brigade, training of professional personnel with medium-range surveillance radars GM-200, put into operational use by the Serbian Armed Forces at the end of last year, is being conducted.

Every day, intensive training with these modern radar systems is carried out, in order to train as many crews as possible to operate the radar while being engaged in operational work as part of the permanently deployed forces for control and protection of the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.

The training includes theoretical contents in the field of radar technology and practical work on servicing and maintaining the system, and members of the unit who have undergone all necessary training and certification process in the country and abroad are engaged as instructors.

The emphasis is on training the crews to take up the radar position, detect low-flying targets with specific flight paths, small reflective surfaces, and, subsequently, to process and distribute radar observation data.

The medium-range surveillance radar GM-200 is primarily intended for detection of specific targets — remotely piloted aircraft, drones, rockets and artillery missiles. By purchasing this radar and introducing the modern long-range radar system GM-400 into use as well as the new “SOVA 24” system for processing and displaying the air situation and automatic control, the combat capabilities of the 126th ASEWG Brigade were significantly improved and the highest standards needed to implement the tasks of controlling the airspace of the Republic of Serbia were met.
